GIORGIO GRIBAUDO

Professor, Group Leader

I graduated in Biology at the University of Turin in 1982. After 2 years working as a research fellow at the University of Turin, I moved to Yale University, where I consolidated my expertise and passion for virus-host interactions. I then returned to the University of Turin, where I obtained my PhD in Microbiology and a few years later I entered the Academic career path and became Full Professor of General Microbiology in 2013.

Since the early stages of my career I have focused my research activities on three main areas of interest:

A. Characterization of the mechanisms of host intrinsic and innate antiviral defenses; molecular mechanisms of the antiviral activity of Interferons (IFN) and of IFN-inducible genes;

B. Analysis of the molecular mechanisms that regulate virus-host cell interactions in experimental models of Herpesviruses;

C. Identification, characterization, and validation of new antiviral compounds against Herpesviruses.
